Tips To Make Your Fitness Journey A Fulfilling One

Tips To Make Your Fitness Journey A Fulfilling One

Remember…wherever you’re at in your fitness journey is exactly where you’re supposed to be!

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

Never underestimate the power of positive thinking!
Go into your workouts with a positive attitude. Don’t get caught up in what other people are doing or the photos you see on the internet. After all, comparison is the thief of joy.
In an age where we’re all overwhelmed by the power of the Instagram filter, it’s difficult not to get discouraged by the perfection of it all. But the truth is, those expectations are bogus.
On the Ellen Show, movie star Zac Efron - who has become famous for his chiseled physique - addressed some of these unrealistic expectations around our bodies when talking about his blockbuster film Baywatch.
“For guys, that’s unrealistic. I’m telling you. I got very big and buff for that movie, but I don’t want people to think that’s the best way to be. Like, be your size… I don’t want to glamorize this.” Efron said.
Everyone has their own reasons for wanting or needing to get fit. Ultimately, it shouldn’t be done for anybody but yourself. Even if you put in 20 minutes one day. If it was 20 minutes more than you were doing a year ago, you’re making progress. Have patience and speak kindly to yourself.
Never let the mirror bring down your mood. Getting fit should make YOU feel good!

DON'T MEASURE YOUR PROGRESS IN POUNDS

We’ve all heard the saying, it’s about the journey, not the destination.
Even if your ultimate goal is to lose weight, just because you’re shedding pounds doesn’t mean you’re making progress.
Improper weight loss can lead to deprived energy, dehydration, and in some cases eating disorders. Dieting isn’t about cutting out meals all together just so you can reach a number on the scale. It’s about improving overall health. It’s about replacing the wrong meals with the right ones. That means less soda, more water. Less sugar and sweets, more fruits and vegetables. You still want to eat full meals to get your necessary intake of protein and carbohydrates.
There are so many vital health metrics that can assist you in your weight loss journey by teaching you more about your body and how your decisions affect it.

COMMIT TO CONSISTENCY!

Progress requires patience. But first, comes consistency.
That doesn’t mean a strict NO DAYS OFF mentality. Not everyone is training to be the next ultimate fighting champion. So, you don’t need to overdo it. Find a schedule that works for you, go at your own pace, and hold yourself accountable.
Maybe at first you can only manage once a week, or every other day. If you started the day with a plan to workout later on, but the motivation or the energy isn’t quite there when you get around to it, don’t let that discourage you. Try going outside for a short walk. Doing something is always better than doing nothing.
Or, as KoreHealth founder Jason Manly likes to say, “Everything counts.”
Everyone’s motivation for getting fit is different. If it’s been a while since you last worked out, go slow. If you’re a new, or expecting mother, your routine will likely need to change. Still, having a schedule or a routine will give you something to look forward to and provide you with a sense of accomplishment when you’re finished.
Be consistent in your recovery, too! Good recovery will leave you feeling fresh and ready to do it all again.

BUILD A COMMMUNITY

There’s so much to be said about surrounding yourself with a supportive group of people.
This can come in many different forms. Sign up for a weekly class with friends or use social media to get engaged with fitness professionals or influencers you admire.
